GoHighLevel SMS pricing: what a text costs with every fee
A text on HighLevel's phone system costs $0.00747 / segment in the US and Canada, sent or received, plus the recipient carrier's fee. With carrier fees, one segment costs $0.01097 to $0.01272, about $12.72 per 1,000 at the high end. Texting US numbers also needs A2P 10DLC registration: $22.50 one-time plus a monthly campaign fee.

What one text costs
HighLevel's phone system guide lists the base rate as The native phone system charges for both inbound and outbound SMS at the same rate.

On top of that, the recipient's carrier adds a fee per segment. The guide's table runs from $0.0035 / segment (AT&T) to $0.005 / segment (Verizon) for outbound texts, and some carriers charge more for inbound ones. Verizon's outbound fee rose to its current level on October 1, 2026.
What counts as a segment: Most U.S. carriers define one segment as 160 characters of plain text. If your message exceeds 160 characters, it will be split into multiple segments and billed accordingly.

Failed texts are billed too. The guide says charges apply to every message where a delivery attempt has been made — regardless of the final delivery status.

Monthly cost by volume
The low column uses AT&T's carrier fee. The high column uses Verizon's outbound fee plus the 5% markup HighLevel adds when you rebill, which is what our calculator assumes so it doesn't understate.

A2P 10DLC fees
Texting US mobile numbers from a local number requires A2P 10DLC registration of your brand and campaign. The phone system guide lists $22.50 one-time for Sole Proprietor and Low Volume campaigns and $64 one-time for High Volume, each including a fast-track fee. The monthly campaign fee depends on the use case; the A2P fees article lists Standard Campaign Use Cases: $10.00/month

Does HighLevel mark up SMS?
The two official articles describe this differently. The phone system guide adds a 5% markup to carrier fees and A2P fees at the sub-account level when rebilling is enabled. The A2P fees article says: All A2P 10DLC fees are passthrough charges from The Campaign Registry (TCR), Twilio, and U.S. mobile carriers. HighLevel does not add markup to these charges.
